Iraq Legal Database

The Iraq Legal Database (ILD) is currently the most complete online library of the federal laws of Iraq. The objective behind the ILD is to make the entire corpus of Iraqi law available to judges, lawyers, academics, lawmakers, and all other individuals or institutions that rely on legal knowledge in a single, freely accessible source.  This ILD website was launched in September 2008 and currently contains approximately 30,000 legal texts and more than 7,000 laws, 4,000 ministerial decrees, 3,000 regulations, and 5,000 declarations passed since 1917. The ILD is entirely free-of-charge and does not require users to subscribe in any way.  UNDP-Iraq is the source of most of the funding for the ILD. The ILD is available only in Arabic.

Local Governnance Program

The Local Governance Project, Phase 3 (LGP 3) is an award of the Iraq Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to Research Triangle Institute/RTI International. By the terms of its contract, the purpose of the project is to 'support implementation of the Provincial Powers Act' (PPA). The project will provide that support directly by maintaining offices in 9 of the 15 provinces covered by the law and indirectly across the country by producing material for the use of Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRTs) and other U.S. Government actors. This website constitutes the project's clearinghouse and primary distribution point for that material. English and Arabic manuals and corresponding training materials derived from those manuals can be found on the website. the LGP 3 project has supported the initial development of the Iraq Local Governnance Law Library.
